Ministry Leadership Initiative recently held its first in-person fundraising event since 2019. Hosted by the Made in KC Marketplace on the Country Club Plaza, the evening included a Chiefs watch party as well as a private shopping event. MLI Executive Director Matt Vaughan kicked off the evening, welcoming a crowd of 50 people and providing an update on the organization’s mission and status.

Fundraising is critical for non-profit organizations, which need a stable base of contributors to ensure sustainability. MLI has been blessed, receiving individual gifts and contributions which make up 30% of our annual budget. We are fortunate to continue our work through the pandemic, which has also highlighted the need for authentic, intentional, and highly proficient leadership, sharing the love and grace of Jesus Christ with young people.

Studies have shown that young people who grow up in a youth group are more likely to excel in school, less likely to be at risk, and become happier adults. At its core, MLI provides a two-year instructional cohort program for youth and children’s ministry, and has commissioned 20 youth leaders in the past six years. Additionally, we offer other services and have helped over 90 churches in urban, suburban, and rural communities across Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska.
